Bruce Gingrich, CEO of pharmacy chain Lifechek Drug, takes an active role in his community. Bruce Gingrich contributes to Fort Bend Cares as well as a variety of other outreach events.
Since 2004, Fort Bend Cares has raised funds for child and family services organizations across the county. The organization arose in acknowledgment of the many such organizations in the area and the worthy programming that each offers. Such programs require regular funding in order to operate, while sponsoring organizations find their resources stretched beyond what fundraising efforts can provide. Fort Bend Cares is dedicated solely to gathering resources for these organizations.
To do so, Fort Bend Cares sponsors events that engage the spirit as well as the resources of the community. Its events include the popular Doggone Fun Run/Walk, which in 2015 welcomed 150 human participants and 70 pets to a 5K race and dog costume contest. The organization also sponsors a Golf Open Championship, scheduled for September 18, 2015, as well as a road trip through the French countryside. The 2015 trip raised more than $200,000 for local families and children, and next year's trip is already scheduled to begin on February 6.
