When hunting a moving target like a dove, hunters should remember to aim their gun ahead of the target, a practice called “leading” the target. In addition, even if a group of doves is accessible, hunters should select one dove and not focus on the rest. For best results, hunters should select their shooting location ahead of time and seek out places such as hills and trees, which are most likely to attract doves.
Before heading out on a shooting trip, hunters can prepare by lifting small weights to simulate what occurs when lifting a shotgun. During a hunting expedition, every shooter needs adequate eye and ear protection, along with either gloves or tape to protect their fingers.
